Who We Are

A Short History

The church was first organized in the fall of 2016 as Westminster Chapel.  About 85-90 people began an evening Bible study during the previous summer months.  The Bible study was so well attended and the fellowship so warm and welcoming that by the early fall the leaders decided to form a new church.  By December the congregation numbered in excess of 150 and called the Rev. Jim Bachmann to serve as organizing pastor.  Jim had previously served Covenant Presbyterian Church for 25 years.  Under his leadership that church grew from 38 members to over 2200, built a beautiful facility, and started a Christian elementary school.

Westminster Chapel first worshiped at the Brentwood Sheraton Hotel before securing Julia Green Elementary School in Green Hills as our worship location.  The name, “Westminster Chapel” was borrowed from the historic Westminster Chapel in London, well known for the outstanding leadership of former pastors such as G. Campbell Morgan and Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

In early 2018, the congregation purchased property at 6000 Pasquo Rd, in Bellevue, immediately adjacent to the Stephens Valley development, a planned community in the western part of Davidson County.  A capital campaign conducted during 2018 resulted in closing on a construction loan to build on the Pasquo Road property.  While continuing to meet at the Julia Green location, the Council decided to rename the church so as to be more connected with our future location.  On November 18th, our Senior Pastor, Jim Bachmann announced to the congregation that we would become Stephens Valley Church (you can view the announcement by clicking [HERE]). Stephens Valley Church will continue to emulate Westminster’s example of expository preaching and community outreach and eagerly looks forward to the future God has planned for us.
