We are pleased and excited to have as a guest speaker, Pat Cooper, widow of Dr. Cortez Cooper and mother of our own Patty Cummings.
Pat Cooper was born in Winchester, VA and raised in Draper’s Valley, VA where her father (Preston Sartelle) served as pastor of the historic Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church. She attended Montreal College and majored in music with a minor in Christian Education. In 1955 she married Cortez Cooper. After a stint in the U.S. Army Cortez attended Columbia Theological Seminary and subsequently he and Pat served churches in Georgia and North Carolina before moving to Nashville in 1971 where he served as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church and later Christ Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her father and husband, Pat’s three brothers and brother-in-law were/are PCA ministers. Currently Pat lives in Wytheville, VA and is active in the Draper’s Valley Church her father served. Cortez passed away in 2011. Pat is the mother of 3 sons and 1 daughter. She is blessed with 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
